State Representative Jonathan Fritz has announced that the Central Wayne Regional Authority is set to receive nearly $4 million for improvements to its sewer infrastructure. The funding, valued at $3.97 million, comprises a combination of grants and low-interest loans, facilitating the replacement of all outdated sewer systems within the Grove Street and Terrace Heights area with advanced and robust materials.
The project will involve replacing approximately 7,600 feet of 8-inch sewer main, the installation of 30 precast sanitary sewer manholes, and 75 service connections. By addressing current infrastructure problems, the project aims to eliminate the potential discharge of inadequately treated sewage into local waterways and reduce the energy consumed when treating excess inflows and infiltration.
Rep. Fritz emphasized the importance of investing in local infrastructure, stating, “Investing in the infrastructure of our vibrant small towns and economic centers is a key focus. This project will lead to increased quality of life, peace of mind and a boost in morale to the community.” He further expressed satisfaction with collaborating with the Central Wayne Regional Authority and PENNVEST: “The Central Wayne Regional Authority is a well-managed operation that stretches every dollar. I am happy to partner with them and PENNVEST to deliver these upgrades.”
PENNVEST, which was established in 1988, is responsible for funding the design and construction of projects related to drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater management across Pennsylvania.
