Rep. Jonathan Fritz and Sen. Rosemary Brown have announced that the Dorflinger Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary will receive $250,000 in funding from the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program (GTRP). The funds are designated for improvements to the sanctuary’s stage and amphitheater structure, including adding a roof over the existing 4,300-square-foot stage. This venue hosts events such as the Wildflower Summer Concert Series and the Fall Music Festival.

“Dorflinger’s music venue is a premier gathering site. These improvements will only add to this one-of-kind setting,” Fritz stated. He added that attending events at this location brings smiles and joy to participants, describing it as “good for the soul.” He expressed his delight in securing funds for local attractions.

Senator Brown also supported the initiative, acknowledging the challenges facilities face in modernizing and maintaining their venues. She emphasized that this funding supports both arts programming and enriching life experiences for residents, families, and visitors.

The Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program aims to develop, rehabilitate, and enhance public parks, trails, and green spaces to foster community engagement and promote healthy living.
