Reps. Jonathan Fritz and Jeff Olsommer, along with Sens. Lisa Baker and Rosemary Brown, have announced the allocation of nearly $5 million in grants to schools and municipalities across Northeast Pennsylvania. The funding comes from Local Share Account (LSA) grants and Public School Facility Improvement grants provided by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA).
The legislators emphasized the positive impact of these funds on local communities. “This funding will support a range of improvement projects that directly benefit our residents and enhance the quality of life across the area,” they stated. They highlighted their collaborative efforts in delivering these resources to their constituencies.
Projects funded include various infrastructure improvements across Pike, Susquehanna, and Wayne counties. In Pike County, Delaware Valley School District received $300,000 for roof replacement at its middle/high school, while Matamoras Borough was awarded $150,000 for municipal building renovations.
Susquehanna County saw significant allocations as well, including $1 million to Montrose Area School District for health and safety upgrades at Choconut Valley Elementary School. Additionally, Forest Lake Township was granted $440,000 for a new fire truck tanker.
Wayne County projects include a $425,000 utility expansion project in Cherry Ridge Township and several community enhancements such as ADA-compliant trails in Honesdale Borough.
The legislators expressed satisfaction with bringing this financial support to rural areas: “Helping our schools and municipalities thrive is always a central aim, and we are thrilled to bring these dollars home to our rural communities.”
The CFA is an independent agency responsible for overseeing programs that contribute to Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
