Rep. Jeff Olsommer announced that the Office of the Budget has allocated $3.5 million to For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Center at Woodloch through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP). This initiative aims to establish the first cancer respite center in the United States, dedicated to providing transformative experiences for families affected by cancer.
“Cancer is not a disease that only affects an individual – but rather an entire family unit,” stated Olsommer. “With these funds, For Peter’s Sake will be able to deliver a respite experience for these families, and I am grateful to see that these dollars will be used in such a meaningful and positive way.”
Cancer patients can join the For Pete’s Sake program through nominations from their oncology professionals. The majority of these patients are experiencing financial difficulties. The facility is designed to offer transformative experiences intended to enhance the care continuum for cancer patients.
For Pete’s Sake plans to serve 4,500 individuals, with 83% of them facing financial challenges. The RACP is managed by the Office of the Budget and supports projects related to regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvements.
