North Pocono School District issued the following announcement.
Good evening.
On Thursday, July 30 at 7:00 p.m. the North Pocono School District Board of Education will hold an emergency meeting to discuss the status of the upcoming 2020-2021 school year. The meeting will be broadcasted virtually via a link that will be provided the day of the meeting on the district website. As previously presented, the district has the decision to make on several educational options for the school year. In order to operate under the safest of conditions while maintaining 6 feet social distancing, it is extremely difficult to operate in our normal setting. The district will be discussing a hybrid option, which will cut our class sizes in half and allow for the students to be safely spaced 6 feet apart. Families will also have the ability to choose a full virtual option if they are uncomfortable returning to school in person.
The attached presentation is a summary of the district's proposed 94 page plan that will be submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The board will review the plan and vote on the direction we will take for the 2020-2021 school year. Please keep in mind that we are constantly getting new information that could shift plans for the school year. Thank you for your patience throughout this extremely stressful process. A special thank you to all the parents, staff, and medical professionals that assisted the district with the plan.
