On Friday, September 30th, the North Pocono Middle School Student Council hosted a Latin Dance Event in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month for students in grades 6-8. This program was run by The Brown Initiative, North Pocono alumni who specialize in live music, DJ and dance performance. Students learned a routine featuring various types of Hispanic dances including cha cha, mambo, rumba, bachata, and flamenco. Christian Brown also gave students a brief history of the origins of each type of Hispanic dance. After the dance portion, students sampled Mexican candy and enjoyed homemade tortilla chips and authentic salsa and guacamole from Leonor's Eatery.
