Today, local elected officials announced that nearly $5 million in grants have been awarded to schools and municipalities across Northeast Pennsylvania. The funding comes from the Local Share Account (LSA) and Public School Facility Improvement grants provided by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA).

Reps. Jonathan Fritz and Jeff Olsommer, along with Sens. Lisa Baker and Rosemary Brown, were instrumental in securing these funds for projects within their represented counties. They stated, “This funding will support a range of improvement projects that directly benefit our residents and enhance the quality of life across the area.”

The allocated funds will be used for various projects throughout Pike, Susquehanna, and Wayne counties. In Pike County, Delaware Valley School District will receive $300,000 for roof replacement at its middle/high school. Matamoras Borough is set to use $150,000 for municipal building renovations.

Susquehanna County has several allocations including $1 million for health and safety upgrades at Choconut Valley Elementary School in Montrose Area School District. Additionally, Forest Lake Township will acquire a new fire truck tanker with $440,000.

Wayne County's funding includes $425,000 on behalf of Cherry Ridge Township for utility expansion to an undeveloped land parcel. Honesdale Borough will receive $297,000 to complete an ADA-compliant trail project.

The legislators expressed their satisfaction with bringing these resources to rural communities: “Helping our schools and municipalities thrive is always a central aim.” They also commended organizations for proposing impactful community facility upgrades.

The CFA is responsible for managing programs aimed at fostering economic growth in Pennsylvania.
